Major Arcana

As mentioned previously there are 22 Major Arcana cards with each representing a different human psyche or experience.  Below are quick simple keywords for each card.  The standard deck the majority appear to use for guidance and learning is The Rider Waite – images of these can be found on the internet with further detailed explanations.

0 – The Fool – Adventure, Naivety, Turn idea into a reality, Foolishness

1 – The Magician – Power, Ideas, Trickery, Has the resources at finger tips

2 – The High Priestess – Hidden, Calmness, Cunning, Deceitful

3 – The Empress – Growth, Fun, Bringing something to fruition, moodiness

4 – The Emperor – Strength, Controlling behaviour, Organised, Domineering

5 – The Hierophant – Traditional, Not the norm, Following another’s lead, Faith

6 – The Lovers – Responsibility, Choice, Idolising, Emotionally controlling

7 – The Chariot – Victory, Direction, Paranoia, Over Analysing

8 – Strength (**) – Control of one’s life, Lack of confidence, Calmness, Authority (please note Strength & Justice can be reverse order)

9 – The Hermit – Introspection, Wisdom, Making repeated mistakes, Uncompassionate

10 – The Wheel of Fortune – Opportunity knocking, Stagnating, Lack of confidence, Turning point

11 – Justice (**) – Balanced decision, Karmic response, Cruel, Unfair judgement

12 – The Hanged Man – Crossroads, Stop & Pause, Self-sacrifice, Let go

13 – Death (note not physical death) – Change, Rigid, Suffering, Overwork

14 – Temperance – Balance required, Control desires

15 – The Devil – Unhealthy situation, Breaking free, Materialistic, Overloving

16 – The Tower – Blown Ego, Fall from grace, Sudden realisation, Truth dawning

17 – The Star – Hope, Realising plan to dream, Hope fading, Mind stopping self realising dream

18 – The Moon – Deception, Time needs to pass for good outcome, Depression, Change

19 – The Sun – Success, Living life through another, Believing in self, Hiding your light

20 – Judgement – Second chance, Emotionally blocked, Brimming with confidence, Pay back time

21 – The World – Accomplished, Needy & dramatic, Success after a long hard road, Selfish
